Commission Original Paintings in Sarasota, FL

boat painting
©1990-2024 Boat Painting by Jill Saur, all rights reserved

This abandoned boat on the beach, "Rhapsodic Blues", was inspired by a vacation on a small island in the Florida Keys, where I came across this enticing scene.  This 14"x11" acrylic palette knife painting is rendered in the impressionistic style of Vincent Van Gogh, one of my favorite artists.

This painting is sold, but I love to paint commissions and can render a similar scene for you.  The great thing about commissions is that you choose the size of the painting that best suits your needs.  My work is usually purchased to create a focal point in a room and to bring uplifting colors and feelings into a home or office.  Click on the link below to see what my patrons say about commissioning a work of art.

I invite you to become a collector and experience the joy of owning artwork that inspires and uplifts your soul.  My Website:  CLICK HERE

Hughes Easels Go Fund Me

HELP DON ANDREWS REBUILD HUGHES EASELS

From Brandie, Don's daughter:

Hello, my name is Brandie and my dad is Don Andrews, owner of Hughes Easels. I wanted to share some recent events with those that know my dad. He’s the kind of person that would do anything for anyone at the drop of a hat but will be struggling himself and yet never ask for help. So I’m doing this to try to help him recover and get him back to what he loves doing most❤️

Hughes Easels has been dedicated for the last 40 years to creating and evolving a state-of-the-art easel for his beloved artist community.

But the last few weeks have really turned our world upside down! We have been impacted by not just one but two hurricanes. On September 26, Hurricane Helene came through and brought a substantial amount of storm surge that flooded the building with 30” of saltwater. Immediately after, we started the cleanup process. We worked from early morning to night because we knew the longer his equipment sat in saltwater, the more it would deteriorate.

I guess that was just a practice run because about 10 days later, we received news that we needed to start preparing for another one! On October 9, Hurricane Milton roared right through and really complicated the situation!! The morning after, my dad eagerly went to check on his workshop and was blown away when he saw that it had taken on another 45” of water. It was a disaster.

The saltwater destroyed thousands of dollars of manufacturing equipment, office equipment, a large inventory of hardwoods and hardware, along with his forklift, which he uses to receive materials and ship finished products. Honestly, when it comes to water damage, nothing was spared. Unfortunately, flood insurance was never seen as a necessity due to the shop not being in a flood-prone area, so the expense of it wasn’t justified. Locals have never seen this amount of storm surge in over 100 years. Below are some pictures of before and after the storms.

If you’re at all able to help and support him rebound from this catastrophe so he can continue to live his dream, serving the artist community and doing what he loves, we would be beyond grateful

From Jill Saur:

Don is the kindest business owner I know. I bought my Hughes Easel about seven years ago. It's a work of art. My clients and students are always amazed when they see what it can do. I recently moved to Florida. I was so worried about moving the easel from Georgia to Florida. Don walked me through every step to take it apart. I live a little over an hour from Don and he even offered to drive to my house to help me set it back up again. My husband and I didn't need for him to do that but he was always available by phone to guide us. I hope he will get enough support to get up and running. He loves what he does and the art community, especially those like me who are physically compromised, need his easels. - Jill

© 1990-2024 Ocean Painting by Jill Saur, all rights reserved

This 6"x12" poured acrylic abstract ocean painting, "Ocean Tides," is a symphony of color and movement, capturing the essence of the sea without the constraints of form.  Swirls of deep blues, vibrant turquoises, and hints of foamy whites collide and merge, mimicking the ebb and flow of waves.  It's a visceral experience, more about the feeling of the ocean's boundless energy than a literal depiction.

"Ocean Tides," is available on my website.   Please note that I paint fine art commissions and can accomodate any size painting, abstract or representational, for your home or office. - Jill Saur

Commission A Pet Portrait Painting - Sarasota - Lakewood Ranch - Bradenton - Parrish - FL

dog portrait
© 1990-2024 Pet Portrait Commission by Jill Saur

Commissioning a pet portrait painting is a heartfelt way to celebrate the unique bond shared with your furry companion, capturing their personality and spirit on canvas.  It becomes a timeless keepsake, preserving cherished memories and honoring the joy they bring to your life.

My client, Alison K., commissioned me to paint a portrait of her beloved dog, Bella.  The following is my clients review:   "I could not be more pleased at how Jill’s portrait of my dog, Bella, turned out. She truly captured her essence. I love this painting and I will cherish it long after Bella is gone. It definitely exceeded my expectations and my expectations were high because I know what an amazing artist Jill is."

I feel blessed in that after thirty-five years of painting, I've never had a painting returned or a commission rejected (my clients satisfaction is always guaranteed).  If you entrust me with your commission, I'll dedicate my skill and passion to create something that reflects your vision and honors the essence of what you hold dear. - Jill Saur

Florida East Coast Sunset by Jill Saur

© 2024 Fla. Sunset by Jill Saur, all rights reserved

What magnificent beauty is this that I'm able to witness from my own backyard every evening?  The beauty of a Florida sunset is truly breathtaking, a natural spectacle that captivates all who witness it.  As the sun sinks toward the horizon, the sky transforms into a vibrant canvas of warm oranges, deep pinks, and soft purples, reflecting off the calm waters below.  I'm mesmerized and blessed to experience such handiwork of God.

Having lived on the east coast of Florida for just three months, I'm wondering how these sunsets will inspire the brushwork and colors that I'll choose for my abstract landscape paintings that I'll be starting next week.

My art studio is in the Sarasota/Lakewood Ranch area.  Please contact me if you are interested in having a painting commissioned just for you.

Aspen Tree Wall Art by Jill Saur

© 1990-2024 Aspen Tree Painting by Jill Saur, all rights reserved

Aspen tree wall art captures the elegance and tranquility of nature with its striking depiction of tall, slender trunks and shimmering leaves.  Known for their white bark and vibrant golden hues in autumn, or the splendor of green hues in the spring, aspens symbolize renewal and connection to the natural world.

My original aspen tree paintings are perfect for bringing the calm and majesty of the forest indoors (in any part of the country).  I have many clients in Florida and the south who happily collect my aspen tree paintings.

My 8"x8" oil painting, "Aspen Embrace" is available to purchase on my website.  I also love to paint commissions (any size).  My studio is in the Sarasota/Lakewood Ranch area.

Commission A Painting in Sarasota - Lakewood Ranch - Tampa, FL.

Hawaii Painting
©2006-2024 Hawaii Painting By Jill Saur, all rights reserved

This painting commission was a birthday gift from a husband who adores his wife.  He brought me a photograph of their favorite lookout spot in Hawaii for me to paint.  This 48"x36" acrylic painting is titled, "Hawaiian Splendor" I love taking on these big requests.  They give me the opportunity to paint my heart out and work with great clients!
My paintings are usually featured as the focal point of a room.  The two greatest compliments I get from my clients are that my paintings exude ‘joy’ and that they're hung in a prominent place for all to see.
Why commission a painting with me?  Because you'll get the size painting you're looking for with the colors and subject matter that you want.  You'll own a one-of-a-kind original that will make a unique statement for your home or office.  Most importantly, you're going to get a painting that you love!  - Jill Saur - Lakewood Ranch - FL.

Sarasota/Lakewood Ranch Artist - Jill Saur

Jill Saur - Artist

When you own one of my paintings, you'll discover that my work feels alive and timeless.  Years after buying a painting from me, clients tell me the more they look at my work, the more they see. They say my art continues to inspire them, relieve stress in their lives, and bring them joy. This makes me happy.

JOY ON CANVAS

My artwork is a natural outpouring of my encounter with God and His majestic creation, resulting in paintings that are dramatic, uplifting, and full of life. My tagline is 'joy on canvas' given to me by my Godfather, Stan Lee, the creator of Spiderman, The Incredible Hulk and numerous other super-heroes.  According to Uncle Stan, my work exudes sheer joy!  I take that as a high compliment considering his creative genius and honesty.

MY STORY

Patrons have been collecting my expressive paintings for thirty-five years. My artwork has been featured in premier galleries in Santa Fe, N.M., Vail, CO., New York, Dallas, TX., and my own art gallery in Historic Roswell, GA. My prints have been sold nationally through catalogs and retail chains.  I'm known for my soulful rendering of aspen and birch trees in landscapes, but I’m equally at home painting seascapes, still life, and abstract paintings!

In college, I majored in business and journalism, but I ultimately succumbed to my first love, painting.  Studying with master watercolor artists, and branching out into oil and acrylic,  I established the foundation of what would be a lifelong career as an artist.  Later, attending the Atlanta College of Art, I was able to enhance my skills in drawing and painting.

In 2005, fulfilling a lifelong dream, I opened my own 1,750 sq. foot art gallery in Historic Roswell, Georgia where I successfully showcased and sold my own artwork.  I had the privilege of building a loyal patron following while continuing to develop my artistic style. Recently, Tom and I moved to the Sarasota, Lakewood Ranch area. My studio is in our home on a peaceful pond with a magnificent view of breathtaking sunsets.  I'm able to meet with clients here by appointment.  I'm just as passionate about painting as I was when I began over forty years ago! Those who know me, know that I'm driven to continue to grow as an artist.  It's a journey that won't be completed until I take my last, you know, breath.

PAINTING PROCESS

By building layers of transparent hues, I'm able to capture an illuminating glow in my paintings. When I work with my palette knife, I create thick textural pieces that my patrons love. My clients tell me they feel as though they can walk into one of my landscapes, or reach out and pluck a petal from one of my flower paintings! That makes me smile.  I only work with the finest materials, including the highest quality paints, brushes and canvases.

Painting of Boat in Florida

© 1990-2024 Painting by Jill Saur, all rights reserved

My watercolor painting of an abandoned boat on Seabird Key captures a tranquil moment where nature and solitude converge. The boat, pulled up on shore, rests on grass and coral stones. The inside of the boat reflects the hues of the sky above—soft blues and muted greys. Mangroves and lush greenery frame the scene, offering a sense of seclusion and peace. It’s a snapshot of calm, where time seems to slow, and the gentle lapping of the water on shore speaks to a quiet adventure.

Hidden away in the Florida Keys,  Seabird Key is a secluded island.  I've had the pleasure of staying there on a number of occasions and I've taken those memories with me through my life.  In fact, there's a quote in the guest book inside the house that someone wrote, "When blue days come, we will take out our memories and touch them with our hearts, and smile."  I love that!

This 11"x14" watercolor painting is sold, but I have many others on my website gallery to purchase.  Whether you're looking for a small painting or an extra large acrylic on canvas,  I  paint commissions and can accomodate what you need.  Please read what my patrons have to say about commissioning a painting with me.  My studio is in the Sarasota - Lakewood Ranch area.

Buy Original Art Sarasota - Lakewood Ranch

© 1990-2024 Jill Saur Fine Art, all rights reserved

Original art has the power to evoke emotions, provoke thought, and inspire change. Its authenticity and originality can resonate deeply with viewers, offering new perspectives or prompting introspection. The connection people feel with original art is often profound because of the uniqueness and presence of the artist’s hand.

Original art also embodies authenticity, which is increasingly valued in a world saturated with copies and digital reproductions. The integrity of an original piece – its imperfections, texture, and the artist’s personal touch – adds a dimension that cannot be replicated, making it truly one-of-a-kind.

My studio is in my home in the Lakewood Ranch, Sarasota area.  Visit my website and give me a call.  I'm happy to make an appointment with you to see my work or to discuss painting a commissioned piece of artwork for your home. Thanks for viewing. - Jill Saur

Original Art Sarasota/Lakewood Ranch, Florida

© 1990-2024 Jill Saur, all rights reserved

Three aspen trees stand tall and slender, their white trunks etched with dark, eye-like markings that add an air of mystery. Their trunks reflect the light in a shimmering dance that hints at early autumn. The trees, closely grouped, yet distinct in their individual forms, create a harmonious rhythm.  Their branches reaching out like graceful arms, remind me of the bible verse, "A threefold cord is not easily broken."

This 10"x8" oil painting, "Threefold Cord" on a archival panel, is available on my website.  Thanks for viewing - Jill Saur

Commissioning a Fine Art Painting by Jill Saur

Commissioning a Fine Art Painting by Jill Saur

There's something profoundly personal about owning a piece of fine art that's been crafted specifically for you. Whether it's a portrait, landscape, or abstract piece, commissioning a painting offers a unique way to create a lasting and meaningful artwork that reflects your taste and vision. In this guide, we'll walk you through the process of commissioning a fine art painting, from choosing the right artist to the final unveiling of your masterpiece.

1. Define Your Vision

It's crucial to have a clear vision of what you want. Ask yourself the following questions:

  • Subject Matter: What would you like the painting to depict? Are you interested in a portrait, landscape, still life, or something abstract?
  • Style: What style appeals to you? Classical realism, impressionism, abstract, modern, or perhaps a fusion of styles?
  • Size and Placement: Where will the painting hang? The size and scale should complement the space it will occupy.

2. Review My Website and Read My Patrons Reviews

This will give you insight into my reliability and professionalism.

        •  Finding The Right artist is key to bringing your vision to life.

3. Initial Contact and Consultation

Reach out to me to discuss your commission. This initial contact typically involves:

  • Discussing Your Vision: Share your ideas, preferences, and any reference materials. The artist might have questions to refine your concept.
  • Understanding the Process: Ask about the working process and timeline.
  • Budget: Be upfront about your budget. Prices can vary widely based on the artist’s reputation, the complexity of the work, and its size.

4. Drafting the Agreement

A clear agreement helps prevent misunderstandings. My agreement includes:

  • Scope of Work: Detailed description of what the painting will entail.
  • Timeline: Expected start and completion dates.
  • Cost: Total cost and payment schedule.
  • Rights and Usage: Clarify who owns the rights to the image of the painting and how it can be used or reproduced.

5. The Creative Process

With everything in place, I will begin to work on your commission. This stage often includes:

  • Sketches and Approvals: I usually provide preliminary sketches or drafts for your feedback and approval.
  • Updates: I will send periodic updates of work-in-progress images.

6. Final Review and Delivery

As the painting nears completion, you’ll typically be invited to review it before it’s finalized. At this stage:

  • Final Adjustments: Discuss any last-minute changes if necessary.
  • Delivery or Pickup: Arrange for the painting to be delivered or picked up.

7. The Unveiling

Finally, it’s time to enjoy your new artwork! Whether you’re hanging it in your home or office, make sure it’s placed in a spot where it can be appreciated.

Conclusion

Commissioning a fine art painting is a deeply personal journey that allows you to own a piece of art that’s uniquely yours. By carefully selecting the right artist, clearly defining your vision, and maintaining open communication throughout the process, you can ensure a successful collaboration and end up with a beautiful, custom artwork that you'll cherish for years to come.

Remember, the beauty of a commissioned piece lies not just in the final product but in the creative process that brought it to life. Enjoy the experience and the masterpiece that follows!

My studio is in the Sarasota and Lakewood Ranch area.  However, I paint commissions for clients nationally.

Original Paintings - Sarasota, Florida

Florida West Coast Sunsets

© Sunset by Jill Saur all rights reserved 2024

Melodic chords played on a grand piano echo through a symphonic chamber. And, so it is with our sunsets here on the west coast of Florida. They linger and fill the sky with an ethereal beauty that evoke feelings of comfort and peace.
I grew up on the east coast of Florida where the colors of the sunrise were dramatic, yet they happened for a brief moment in time and would quickly dissipate. Having just moved to the west coast of Florida, it’s such a treat at sunset to be wowed by the skies for well over an hour! The eastern clouds are backlit with magnificent hues while the western sky is ablaze with reds and oranges that dance across the voluminous clouds. Florida is the land of a thousand sunsets and I’m happy to take them in one evening at a time.

I suppose I'll be painting a lot more cloud paintings now that I live in this beautiful area. I love to paint commissions. Please have a look at my website. If I can help you find the perfect painting for your home or office, or if you'd like to commission a painting, I'd love to be of assistance. - Jill Saur

"Like blank spaces around words and paragraphs on a printed page, the gap between the sounds uttered by our speech set the boundaries within which words, phrases, and sentences can take shape and morph into images in our minds." - Ewandro Magalhaes

Those words remind me of the spaces between the images in our paintings, the areas where the viewer is able to breathe as their eye moves around the painting. In my watercolor painting above, "I purposely left space to let the viewer's eye travel around and rest on the boat in the foreground.  I painted this from an abandoned boat on Seabird Key, a small island in Florida.  This painting is sold but I have many more that are available on my website.  I also love to paint commissions!

DO OPPOSITES REALLY ATTRACT?  YOU BET THEY DO!!!!

©1990-2021 Abstract Oil Painting by Jill Saur, all rights reserved

My 36"x36" abstract oil painting titled, "Square Dance", was quickly snatched up by a collector shortly after I painted it a number of years ago.

The theme of this painting is, "Opposites Attract".  I painted complimentary colors next to each other to create an evocative synergy.  My patron tells me that everyone who sees this painting just loves it.  That makes me smile.

Are you using zoom to conduct virtual business meetings? Instead of using a virtual background, a blank wall, or a potted plant behind you, why not consider original art to show off your individuality?  I'm always fascinated when I see original artwork hanging behind the presenter on their computer.  I find the person who's speaking to be more interesting.

If you're looking for a dynamic expressive abstract painting, or one that is more subdued,  please consider commissioning me to paint one for you.  I love working with clients and coming up with a dynamic painting just for them!  And, your satisfaction is guaranteed!

  • I collect half of the purchase price from you.
  • You provide any color charts or items with colors in them that you want me to include in the painting.  I do a work up sketch and present colors for your approval.
  • You will receive updates and photos of the painting as it develops.  I gladly accept and want input  from you right up until the final approval.
  • After your approval, I will ask for the final payment on your painting.  If you need the painting shipped to you, my shipper will pack, insure and ship your painting to your doorstep.

36"x36 Commissioned Painting: "Symphonic Splendor"

The following comments are from the patron who commissioned, "Symphonic   Splendor":
"As first time art commissioners, we were a bit nervous initially to approach an artist and start the process. However, after the first  conversation with Jill, we immediately felt at ease. She let us know that she would be open to color choices and input from us throughout the whole process, and she meant it.  We had several meetings and communications with Jill to discuss the project overall, choose colors, review the sketches, and of course view the final product. There was never a point in the process where we didn’t know what was going to happen next. In the end, we couldn’t be happier with the piece.  She took our vague descriptions and varied color palette and turned it into a beautiful work of art. We can’t wait to hang it as the centerpiece in our brand new home!".    Mandy and Adam C. -  Atlanta, GA
Mandy found me through the internet and gave me a call.  I invited Mandy and Adam to my studio to see my work in person and to discuss their vision for a commission.  After they decided to move forward, Mandy emailed me a color chart reflecting her desired colors.

I worked up a color chart with my acrylic paints and invited Mandy to my studio to see them in person.  Mandy brought me a pottery piece with the colors she wanted in the painting.

I submitted three drawings to them via email and they chose this one.

Since this was to be such an important design piece for their home, I painted a preliminary 18”x18” painting for Mandy and Adam to preview.  I wanted to be sure that my artistic vision was in line with what they desired.  Both Mandy and Adam came to my studio to see it.  They absolutely loved it and I was able to start the final 36”x36” painting.

Commissioned Painting: "Absolute Joy" 36"x36"

“We began to work with Jill on a commission to put in the mountain house that we are building, never dreaming that we would end up with a painting that invokes such Absolute Joy!  We talked with Jill several times to convey what we feel when we visit the property we purchased, and  Patron comment:she understood what we wanted very early in the process. Her ability to translate our words into emotion was unfathomable and resulted in a masterpiece that we will enjoy for many years.  As we picked up the painting, I swear I saw a tear as she reluctantly gave up a piece of her heart.” Ken Manford & Jeffrey Roach - Decatur GA / Hayesville NC
Ken and Jeffrey have been clients of mine since Ken walked into my gallery five years ago and purchased a 36”x36” original aspen tree painting as a gift for Jeffrey.  Last year, they commissioned a second aspen tree painting for their new home in Decatur.  In December, Ken emailed me about a vacation home they were building on top of a mountain with spectacular views.  They wanted to commission me to paint something that would be the focal point inside their home.  I sent them a photo that my sister took in the nearby mountains of a river below.  Since they had such wonderful views on top of the mountain, I thought they might want a painting to remind them of the beauty below.  They loved the idea and photo, and told me to proceed.  I feel honored they have such trust in me to send a check without ever speaking to me on the phone.  This was all done through email correspondence.

I sent Ken and Jeffrey my drawing on the canvas to show my progress.  Above the drawing is a smaller canvas I painted to work out my colors.  I don't always do this, but on certain occasions, I will.

I sent this to my client to show him the beginning of his painting.

This is a photo I sent to show the hues in the water and the background.

Commissioned Painting: "Canton Street" 36"x36"

"My husband and I lived in East Cobb for nearly two years, and fell in love with Roswell.  When we recently moved to Denver, Colorado, we wanted to take a piece of Roswell with us to our new home as we knew we'd miss Roswell dearly.  Once arriving in Denver, we found the perfect spot over the fireplace to place a lasting memento of our favorite spot in the heart of Roswell. Knowing of Jill's work, we commissioned her to paint a picturesque part of Roswell, and we are so glad we found her and asked her to paint this lasting memory for us!  Jill brought Canton Street to life in masterful detail and elegant style - and allowed for our input on the commission every step of the way.  While we were managing much of the process from afar in Denver - via email and phone calls - Jill put together a fantastic painting that captured everything we were looking for.  What's more is that Jill gave us insights into her work process every step of the way - she truly collaborated with us and valued our input.  The experience of working with her was excellent.  From her taking the initial photo of the Canton Street spot we had identified, throughout the prototyping, and to the finished product, we couldn't have been happier with how things went.  Upon receiving our painting in Denver (and the shipping process was handled with true TLC), we fell in love with the painting of the little place we enjoyed so much.  Thanks to Jill for an outstanding piece of artwork that brought our memorable place to life, along with an exceptional working process and a wonderful overall experience in commissioning our Roswell masterpiece.  We are grateful to Jill for painting something we'll cherish forever".  - Lesley and Josh Disbrow - Denver, Colorado

I started this commission by taking numerous photos of Historic Canton Street.  My clients loved this shot of their favorite restaurant.

They wanted my colorful spin incorporated into my painting.  So, I manipulated the photo I took and sent them different options to choose from.  They had a specific color palette that they wanted and this was a perfect fit for what they wanted.

Commissioned Painting:  "The Bennett Family Farm"

”One afternoon I had the idea to commission a painting of our one hundred year old family farmhouse.  As anyone else would do in 2015, I googled, "commission painting Atlanta". Jill's website was one of the first to show up. Immediately, I was impressed with the talent on her website and the step-by- step process she outlines for commissioned work. I emailed and called Jill and quickly we began collaborating with pictures and emails. Jill truly stays with her commitment to involve the client in the decision process as portrayed on her website. It rapidly becomes clear that Jill paints from the passion in her heart, which creates her unique talent.  Upon completion, you will start to photograph all sorts of ideas that you wish to commission with Jill in the future.  An addiction is created!  I am very honored to have “The Bennett Family Farmhouse” from Jill Saur in my home. My new piece of art will be the talk of Atlanta in 2015.  Thank you Jill for a wonderful first commissioned experience." – Lori B. – Atlanta, GA.

Lori provided  me with a photograph of her family’s one hundred year old farm.  I cropped the image to fit onto an 18”x24” canvas size that Lori wanted.  She approved.
