Atlanta Art Commissions

I love Van Gogh.  People often associate Van Gogh with his tumultuous life and don't realize he was a master artist, draftsman, and color theory expert.

A few weeks ago I was inspired to paint this heavily textured palette knife painting using brilliant azure blues, effusive reds, and warm golds.  Although I painted this quite spontaneously,  I still used my knowledge of color theory and the elements of principle and design.

After concentrating on using those elements for so many years, they just seem to come naturally to me now.  When someone asks me how long it took me to complete a particular painting,  I'm tempted to reply, "Oh, about thirty years or so."

This 16"x20" textured acrylic palette knife flower painting is titled, "Red on Blue."  This painting sold through one of my representing galleries.  I'm extremely thankful to have folks who appreciate and love my work.  If you're interested in purchasing a similar original, please consider commissioning a painting with me.

Martin Glaser, a legendary New York graphic designer famous for creating the ‘I Love New York’ logo, recently spoke about something that’s dear to my heart.  He said, “If you can sustain your interest in what you’re doing, you’re an extremely fortunate person.  What you see very frequently in people’s professional lives, and perhaps in their emotional life as well, is that they lose interest in the third act.  You sort of get tired, and indifferent, and sometimes, defensive and you kind of lose your capacity for astonishment, and that’s a great loss, because the world is a very astonishing place.”

I guess you’d say I’m in the third act of my life.  I still find wonder in observing nature, seeing the cloud formations before a storm, and getting up early to watch the sun rise over the misty waters of the Chattahoochee River.

The overflow of being astonished with life is expressed through my art, my friendships, and the general way that I conduct my business.

I agree with Martin Glaser, the world is a very astonishing place!

My 18"x36" summer acrylic aspen tree painting, "Resounding Joy", was a painting commissioned by some of my favorite clients.  After purchasing their first painting from my gallery, they decided they wanted another piece for a special place in their home.  They wanted summer aspens and we came up with this idea.  Soon after, they commissioned a larger painting for a summer home they were building in the mountains.  How fortunate I've been to have such wonderful and appreciative clients!

                                              BUY ORIGINAL ART

You walk into a gallery or browse through an artist's website, and all of a sudden, amidst the host of paintings, your attention is turned to just one.  Then, in the quietness of your observation, this image that has no literal voice, begins to speak to you, uplift your spirit, move your heart and make you smile.
The number one reason to buy an original work of art is because of how much you love it, and how it makes you feel.  People who buy original art have a lot to smile about!
A great painting inspirits the right hemisphere of our brains, stimulating ideas, and ideas are the root of creativity.  If you surround yourself with art that inspires, you will be inspired!
Studies in work environments have shown that the productivity of an employee is elevated by as much as 25% when they are exposed to original art in their everyday jobs. This doesn’t surprise me.  Art that makes us feel good can uplift our moods and give us a greater sense of well-being.  My patrons tell me that my art inspires them and the more they look at my work, the more they see.  The greatest two compliments I get are that my paintings exude ‘joy’ and that they're  displayed in a prominent place.
When you buy an original painting from me, you will have a one-of-a-kind creation that no one else in the  world has. With the longevity of the premium quality acrylic and oil paints I use, your painting will become a family heirloom and be able to be passed down to subsequent generations.
Original art also has aesthetic value.  It can either blend in with the natural décor of a room, or as many collectors prefer, it can stand out from everything else and be the focal point.  Because my art is vibrant,  full of life, and luminous,  most of my clients purchase my art to become the focal point of their room.
When you buy a painting from me, you can continue to follow my work through my website and  blog.  I have a solid record of selling to collectors for the past twenty-eight years.  Read what my happy patrons have to say about collecting my work.  PATRONS COMMENTS
When you collect art from local and national artists who have spent years developing their style, technique, creativity and expertise, you become the impetus that keeps the renaissance of talented contemporary artists alive. - Jill Saur

Andrew Wyeth American Master by Jill Saur

Andrew Wyeth Painting
Andrew Wyeth Painting "Pentecost"
Andrew Wyeth, American Master Painter 1917-2009 By Jill Saur

Think these are fishing nets?  Not so fast.  There's a story behind these nets.  There's always a story.

In Andrew Wyeth's own words, "On Allen Island, a young girl was washed out to sea in a storm.  They couldn't save her.  I was thinking about the young girls body floating there underwater, and the nets became her spirit."

Andrew Wyeth was rarely satisfied with his work.  But, this painting was different.  He thought it was beautiful.  He felt touched by a spiritual source while working on it and aptly named it, "Pentecost".

From my early years as an artist, till this day,  I've been greatly influenced by the works and life of Andrew Wyeth.  His inspired paintings touch my spirit and motivate me to paint from a deeper, more intimate place in my soul.

I love it when a painting expresses what's going on inside the artist as well as outside.  That's when you have the touch of the master's hand, soul, and spirit! - Jill Saur
