Aspen Tree grove

Just deposit me in a grove of aspens or a field leading to them, and I will be as happy as it gets as an artist who just loves these trees.  This photo was taken in Estes Park on a beautiful fall day.  If you ever get a chance to visit Estes Park, I highly recommend it!  There is so much to see and do, and so many places to go for solitude.  Solitude, I wonder if this next generation will be able to slow down enough, and put down the electronic gadgets long enough to experience pure, unadulterated solitude.  My best ideas come when I am able to be still and take in natures beauty and allow God to fill me with His inspiration!

When the weather is nice, and I can get away, I drive down to the Chattahoochee River here in Georgia and get lost amongst the trees and winding river.  The sights and sounds are refreshing, and I am always inspired to continue on in my journey here on this earth.

"The Hastening Tree" Tree Art by Jill Saur

I went down to the river today to take a walk and visit my tree.  Well, it's not exactly my tree, but it is my favorite.  I have written about this tree before, but today I took a photo of why it is so special.  It is hollow at the base, completely hollow.  However, this tree continues to thrive and put out beautiful foliage through spring, summer and fall.

The first photo here is just from standing underneath and looking up.  It is winter.  The tree is naked, old, and some of the limbs are broken and exposed.  It only has a few roots on either side of the trunk.  It takes in what it needs and then gives back.  It gives its beauty to those who take the time to observe it.  It gives shade from the hot sun and provides a cool place to sit and just think about life.  It gives me the lesson that although life can be difficult at times, it is possible to survive against all odds and even thrive.

The second photo is a close up of the base of the tree.  There is not only a hole, but the hole goes completely through to the other side.  The tree has been this way for at least the last
four years.  I have been photographing it in different seasons, and I have done a number of paintings from my photos.

The last photo is my favorite painting that I've done of this tree.  It is called, "The Hastening Tree".  I named it that because I get the sense that this tree is making its last sprint to reach the finish line in all the glory it can muster up.  In some deep place inside of me, I relate to this tree and what it stands for.

"Absolute Love" Palette Knife Painting by Jill Saur

©2011 "Absolute Love" by Jill Saur, all rights reserved

I had fun with this one!  This is painted entirely with a palette knife.  It has a lot of texture!  This 9"x12" painting is an acrylic on wide canvas.  It doesn't need to be framed because the sides are painted.  I invite you to become a collector and experience the joy of owning original art that uplifts and inspires.

Aspen Tree Painting and Texture by Jill Saur

I realized the other day that I should post some close up images of my paintings, to show the texture that I apply to my trees.  The first image is one of my paintings, Aspen Rhapsody In Snow.  The second image is a close up of one of the trees in that painting.  You can see the thick, rich texture that I apply on my trees.  The last image is from another one of my aspen tree paintings.
