Vincent Van Gogh

Vincent Van Gogh Self Portrait

Vincent Van Gogh was a man who possessed deep convictions, tremendous fortitude, and deep passionate bonds with those he loved.

When his Uncle died, he wrote a letter to his brother, Theo.  In it, he said, "My Dear Theo, This morning I heard from Pa and from you the news of Uncle Jan's death.  Such things make us say, "O Lord, join us intimately to one another and let our love for Thee make that bond ever stronger.  And, Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man."  That last sentence was taken from Ecclesiastes 12:13.

Van Gogh was well versed in the old and new testament, holding a deep faith and and belief in God.  Yet still, in all his frailties, Van Gogh was still a man with many weaknesses, showing us that believers are not perfect but perfectly forgiven!  - Jill Saur  www.JillSaur.com
